I was recently in Albany and spent time at the plaza , having been away from it for since the mid 1970s . It has been just 35 years since Rocky and his rock pilers did such a nice setting in Albany and already it is beginning to show signs of bad judgment in it's construction . With that chain fence that you have put up , this is a indication of what may lay ahead . I think the engineers did not consider that Stones taken from Italy in a different climate would hold up to the bitter winters of Albany. I think you should consider what you are going to do if the marble on the higher building starts shattering . At the base areas it already is splitting , Whether that stone at the base areas is the same as other stones I can not say . Love the setting there , my family goes back to the revolution in that area .

  • Central Warehouse, elbarto90se wrote 14 years ago:
The fire started on Friday Oct 22 on one of the upper floors. The Albany Fire Department is not letting firefighters enter the building due to safety concerns, they are planning to let the fire burn itself out.

Currently on fire and expected to burn for 3 days.
  • Interstate 90 - Exit 5A, elbarto90se wrote 14 years ago:
The canceling of this highway is also why the I87 Northway doesn't have an Exit 3. The I87/I686 interchange would have been I87 Exit 3. A couple of other canceled highways in the area also explain why the Route 9/I90 interchange directly to the east of this exit is so complex and why the east end of the Dunn Memorial Bridge looks like it was stopped in mid construction.

The newly added link with the plan should shed some light. It looked hard to believe at first, but it is true.

I used to do my laundry here when I lived around the corner on Ten Eyck Avenue. The Friendly's was out of business and boarded up even back then (2005) so I doubt it's there now! There's a historic marker in the parking lot that says "ALBANY: The Birthplace of Plastic"
  • Tierra Coffee Roasters, po (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
The book store, Clapp's, was not located here, but was on the other side of the Madison Theater between the theater and the CVS. The book store area was renovated into two small theaters that are now part of the Madison theater. Where Muddy Cup currently is there used to be Jeff's Pizza, and then Cafe Web, an internet cafe. Also where the right hand side of the coffee house now is there used to be a record store for a short time.
